Psalm 88

BibleGateway.com Psalm 88

Could this be the dark times in the life of a Christian? Is it punishment for a sin? Is it refining fire to work out our salvation? Whatever it is all Christians go through times of despair, discouragment and depression. You call out to God and he is not answering. You look for your friends and all you have is darkness. O Lord do not let us miss the blessings of these times! Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

So if we are called by God and part of his elect he is working in all things for good. Is it possible to know that good from our limited perspective? In these times no. One day the Lord will return and we will know the purpose of our suffering. For now, rejoice O my soul and praise him. You were dead but are now alive.

Can changing our focus actually bring us through these times of darkness? It does not work on a formula. Do A plus B to get C. God does what he pleases and these times will last exactly as long as it pleases him. So Lord we pray for your return. We pray to be more like you even if it requires time of suffering and darkness. You are the God of light and truth and you will make us to perservere through these times of struggle to be glorified in your presence one day. All of that Glory will reflect to you the most amazing and wondorous and awesome God. Praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ forever and ever!
